For two decades, SOS Enfants Ethiopie (SOS EE) has committed itself to provide humanitarian services to orphans and vulnerable children who are leading their life under difficult circumstances.  Specifically, SOS EE aims to provide these children with basic needs, psychosocial support, medical, academic and vocational education which would enable them to be self reliant citizens. This large organization now supports 18 satellite orphanages throughout Ethiopia, as well as 3 main orphanages in Addis Ababa, a current total of 657 children are supported. Their programs are varied and include community outreach, farming, job training, and a premier medical program that cares for HIV positive children.  In 2009 EOR stocked a newly built medical clinic with essential equipment, medications and supplies. A new playground was also completed and a satellite orphanage in Harar was filled with hand delivered toys from EOR board members.

Are you traveling to Ethiopia in the near future? The following is a list of physical donations currently needed at SOS EE orphanages. For information on pick up or drop off of donations once you are in Ethiopia, please contact us at info@ethiopianorphanrelief.org.  Not traveling in the near future, but want to help? Gift cards and gift certificates from drug and department stores are appreciated! We'll also do the shopping! If you choose to make a gift by check please write "physical donations SOS EE in the memo line. Whenever possible, we attempt to use these cash donations in Ethiopia to also help the local economy.

• Warm Blankets
• Clothing (all children's sizes, gently used or new, boys and girls)
• Jackets and Sweaters
• Shoes
• Books for the Library (hard bound and good quality)
• School Supplies (pencils, crayons, paper, note books, educational activity books, flash cards, educational games that don't require batteries)
• Sports/Play Equipment (soccer balls, playground balls, frisbees, bubbles, games that don't require batteries)
• Please DO NOT send the following: medicine (prescription or over the counter), medical supplies, items that require batteries, candy or stuffed animals)

• Teen/Fashion and Black Hairstyle magazines
• "Cool" shoes, jeans, clothes, swim suits & PJs; bras and underwear (in package/with tags)
• Make-up (eye shadow, lip gloss and mascara) and Nail Polish
• Earrings and Necklaces
• Hair Do-Dads
• Soccery Jerseys/Uniforms (enough for a team), Shin Guards, Socks and Balls
• Sneakers
• Headbands/Sweatbands
• Posters of Soccer Players
• DVDs (i.e., teenager appropriate/popular movies)
• CD Players and CDs of Ethiopian Music (i.e., Teddy Afro)
